Solrais feels heat from competition, drops price

Competition is well and truly active in the rice industry.  Many Solomon Islanders and Lifhaus included were quietly watching as events unfolded and now reports reaching Lifhaus confirm that for the first time in many months, Solrais has dropped its prices significantly.  A regular Lifhaus contributor reported that "I was stunned when the shopkeeper informed me that the bag of 20 Kg Solrais was $165.00."  Lifhaus has yet to independently verify this latest find but it would seem like finally Solrais is responding to the influx of alternative rice strands in the coun

A concerned parent has raised concerns over what he describes as "an alarming increase of news items reporting on sex.....it has became very annoying with the front page reports for the daily papers continously reporting on nothing but sex issues."

Piano students pass with flying colors

<p>17 students from the Solomon Islands Pianoforte School were awarded certificates after passing their exams in Bundaberg, Australia.</p>

17 students studying piano by distance mode traveled in two lots to Bundaberg, Australia in November and December 2009 to sit for their grade 1, 2 and 3 exams set by the Australian Arts & Music Examination Board.  On Sunday 31st January, the students were awarded their certificates with a lot of the students attaining First Class Honours and Honours in both practical and theory exams.

Public buses take shorter routes in Honiara

Public buses in Honiara have begun to take shorter routes while more destinations are being added.  Buses from White River will typically put up signs for Point Cruz or Kukum rather than the usual practise of going up to King George or Naha.  Some White River residents are already saying that in order to get to work, they have to use two buses when trying to get to work at Ranandi or anywhere past Point Cruz.
