BeMobile hopes unique setup will help it compete

The Lifhaus News Desk spoke with a source close to the BeMobile setup who briefly spoke on the challenges of setting up shop in the Solomon Islands.  "BeMobile has a very unique set up from its parent company in Papua New Guinea.  This is simply because the company has learned its lessons well and has identified a more effective model for building their business".  Lifhaus understands that in order to achieve this, BeMobile has outsourced many of its operations so that it can focus on its core business function.

Blood Dolphin stirs international audience

There has been very interesting debates on the issue of dolphin trade since Solomon Islands stormed onto the scene after local exporters sent a shipment to Mexico that resulted in an animal rigts furore.  Since then the subject has polarised different sectors of Solomon Islands communities none more so than the region of North Malaita in Malaita Province which has become the symbol of dolphin activist's victory.

first i must say that i'm not a fan of Jimmy Rasta especially for his past but i appreciate Minister Jimmy latest bold action.

Good on yaa, Minister. we need such strong leaders. U real son blong Solo.

I think it's time to forget on the past and move the country forward.

I hope the finance minister do his part and reduce the high personal income tax iimpossed on us (private companies).

IT Society assists local get fellowship to PacINET 2010

Lifhaus News Desk has been informed that a local Solomon Islander has successfully attained a fellowship to attend the PacINET Conference 2010 in Port Vila, Vanuatu.  Gavin Bare, the ICT Officer at the Solomon Islands National Parliament was among a handful of finalists from around the Pacific region who were awarded this fellowship.  Bare who holds a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Information Systems graduated in 2008 from the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji.

Solomon Star admits to its reporting gaffe

Lifhaus News Desk has received information that the Solomon Star has admitted to a reporting gaffe when it described the recent 50% reduction by Our Telekom for its SMS services as being "a couple of cents cheaper" then beMobile's 99c SMS service.  This was after the company raised its concerns directly with the media outlet.

Counting the cost of our elections 2010

Once the dust had settled, people are finally faced with the harsh reality of the cost of the National General elections.  And as in any election, a second place finish is just as good as last so while others consider petitions most are left to salvage whatever little is left after their loss.  Lifhaus commentators have said, "High profile candidates, especially in Honiara who spent a lot of money are surely feeling the effects of their loss."
