Yesi Jsd, Sogovare is good

Yesi Jsd, Sogovare is good for PM too. He's a cool guy, I like his views about the SI. But i think the Aussies will hate him and will do whatever it takes to topple his govt if he happens to be the PM.

Possible PM

Possible scenarios are as follows:

NCRA might re-group Lilo who always aspires to be PM throughout his political career. As yet, this possibility stands a slim chance. The opposition might compromise on MS as the best candidate given his stance against neo-colonialism. Note that his attack on Aussie during the Moti issue now bears weight in light of new revelations of Aussie's involvement in the entire affair. MS deserves an apology from Aussie as well as the group that deserted him in 2007. His chances of being given another go are relatively high.

R Hou??....too weak in politics when compared to his past role as CBSI Governor - perhaps time will season him to be a strong MP some day

S Abana....fails to show strong leadership calibre during very critical times when his voice was needed by fellow comrades

M Wale....too much egoism which eventually destroys the rapport between him and his colleagues

J Tausinga....outlived his active days in politics - best suited for political mentoring but not as PM

Dr Sikua....needs to admit his failures as a PM to win back the sympathy and support of the opposition block. In this current impasse, he's viewed within the camp as a mere spokesman and not as ultimate choice for PM

More updates to come.....so stedi fara!!!

I think if we look at his

I think if we look at his views about the australia he is right in his mind that all aid shud be the benefit of our country otherwise it will just like boomarang goes and come back....that is just the surface of it. The bottomline is that may be he will work with the Australia again. Past will not be the same all through. When I look at all the MP almost all of them are too soft and dont know what they are doing..seems as thou everi one like wakem palace blo oketa nomoa..A strong leader is good as that is the only way we will improve..Look at FIJI pipol say he is a bad leader but if you look inside he put all the cronies and corrupt leaders inside prison too...so lets not look at one sided coin..look at the both views.
I think its time for new blocks to start thinking of getting into Parliament which they can make policies and legistlations. Otherwise we will have the same pipol wea no save hao for proactive wakem good thing for iumi but only give help like money and things that will only pleased people...which is not the development of our country and economy....the way I see all current MP now..is that they want to make pipol happy by giving cheap things and providing assistance..which hem good but can they have a vision that will make this country prosper.....
Kaen man police officer nomoa..or teacher or mechanic but go MP ia na problem lo iumi..so iumi waste money nomoa send student to get political science..I think its time for Female cadidate be considered for MP...heheheheh

Possible PM

As of lunch today (Sunday), no nominations have been confirmed by the State House, but certainly the list will be known by 5pm.

There's been rumor of a potential 3rd Bloc forming around a candidate with strong personal qualities of uniting once opposing groups. If my source is reliable, that bloc will emerge on the floors of Parliament during voting, but certainly not as another Hotel Camp during the lobbying period.

By the look of things now, at least 30% of NCRA Cabinet will return as ministers within the new government.

I think the hotel camping

I think the hotel camping will give more grieveness to the public..if these MPs are concern about our loveley SI then..they shud stop making stupid decisions and take this country forward..there are alot to do..before end of the 4 year term..otherwise the SI will still the same..I think pipol like ....GDL and DP are obvious with their corruption so shud stay out of the race....even the current Opp Leader......
I beleive all churches and Christian all over the country are praying for the suitable Candidates...for this highest Position in our country...

Politics in Melanesia (as a

Politics in Melanesia (as a geospatial bloc) is about greed and power, not necessarily leadership and sacrifice. Unfortunately, this is the harsh reality of the evils of democracy adopted upon independence or imposed upon us by Western Society. To make matters worse, reconciling western democracy with the predominant materialistic culture of Melanesia is still a mission in infancy. As such, MPs, while elected according to democratic rules, are more loyal to cultural norms than anything else. In any case, it is this loyalty that lands one or reassures an incumbent of returning to Parliament. A university degree (in political science, law, governance, etc) is, in the eyes of an illiterate electorate, the same as a piece of gold to a pig. Throw a 2kg bag of gold (high qualification) and a bag of half-rotten kumara (low/no qualification), which one is more valuable to the hungry pig?? The answer is obviously the rotten kumara!!

Sadly but with due respect, this is exactly the situation with approx. 90% of our voters. Unless that mentality is changed, our country will never produce a high calibre Parliament that in turn produces one of the best PMs yet in the Pacific.

There were six candidates

There were six candidates nominated for the PM. Interestingly, the nominees are being nominated by some powerful nominators. I was expecting people like Hou and Wale but they are out from the race. Lilo might pull its strings and looks like will be a race b/w Lilo and Sogavare. Or who knows, Fugui might also be the man.

My overall general feeling is that none of these current members have proven national committments and result based approaches, except for one i know who always produce results where ever he moves to (ie. the recently resigned Agriculture Minister)

prostitute politics

leadership is about action....and vision, one have for his or her pipol.
we need leaders who always fight for the sovereign right of Solomon islands and no kind wea sellem solo olsem prostitute
sogo is a good start.
others are bunch of alter boys.... following orders like roborts
we need to put leaders who can bargain enough for Solomon islanders, leaders who add value to the pipol of resources.
and not leaders who trade this nation's vast resources for their own mansions.
enough of cheap politics...

DID YOU KNOW GOLD SMUGGLING IS HAPPENING IN SOLOMON ISLANDS...

Six candidates barava tumas

Six candidates barava tumas nao. Showem stret hao stupid our SI politics is. Out of the 6 i would prefer either sogavare or tozaka. I think sogavare has learnt alot from his last experience as PM and therefore would probably be the best candidate for the top job. However his ability to bring MPs together to form one cohesive group is questionable. As i mentioned before i think he would be a strong deputy to Tozaka. Tozaka's experience as a diplomat and his clean record so far makes him an ideal candidate for PM. His calm and cool nature would be well supported by Sogavare's strong and outspoken personality. Then throw in R.Hou as min of Finance and we would see a good strong team at the helm. Then no forget for puttim man lo Choi ya go back lo agriculture, the backbone of the country and give him the funds to work with and hapi isles bae tek off nao ia!

here is the problem I have

here is the problem I have now. We know Sogavare was right about Australia during his government's rule. We have so many documentation to prove that.
BUT he made other political mistakes. That too is well documented but I am hopeful like others have said, he has learnt his lesson.
so let me qualify my earlier statement. Sogavare is the only viable candidate out of this lot! believe me we will not be better off if we voted Ete (BD's boy) or Manetoali (too weak to command respect).
my problem with R Hou is he can only sell integrity. He had perfect opportunity to step up and lead during the days leading up to the PM's resignation but he chose not to. This kind of leader will always be too weak to hold together a coalition made up of all kinds of people. Remember he succeeded at CBSI and the World Bank but at that time he was also working with a lot of qualified people. Now he has to lead a bunch of former taxi drivers, policemen, mama's and militants. That is a whole different ball game and since he did not show up when it mattered, I have serious doubts he will lead so I think it is good he was never nominated in the first place. Tozaka is the same as R Hou but at least he has worked in the public service and serving his second term. So he has a little more experience.
If we can evaluate chances from the nominations then we can clearly see Sogavare may be the only candidate that has crossed both floors of the house and seem to have support from both sides. Other candidates are clearly either in Bobo's camp(Ete), NCRA's camp(Fugui), Darcy's camp (Darcy) or Tran's (Manetoali) camp with Tozaka being the candidate who will hold the balance of power.
So in my opinion, the former NCRA will merge with those in Sogavare's and form the next government. Tozaka will re-align with Sogavare in the end. But that is if good sense prevails. As you can clearly see M Wale is rebelling because he was not nominated! And Abana will not work with Sogavare. So hurry up Wednesday come mekem umi lukim if oketa MP by mekem sensible decision or by oketa continue for mekem stupid ones that keep us in the drain!

stripe them out naked

Fugui - the talker, don't know if he is action oriented. Sweet talker

Darcy Lilo - The deciever, he at it all alone and champion of corruption - actions speaks louder than any evidence, Melanesian way. Current court system is adapted.
Samuel Manetolia - don't know this guy, very silent...a weak figure in national and international face.

D. Ete - a talker, action, very direct and a clean sheet apart from jumping a bit. Agressive and determined. Team worker but being a glue to all the 50 eel fish is a big ????.

Milna Tozaka - very quiet and intelligent, not very focal...steady and a good leader. Been a prominent public servant and diplomat. can he work with a bunch of foolish idiot out there and a few wise men...couldn't say.If the 50 or less men around him can trust him and stop acting like stu(s) out there, he can be a good figure head in our country, otherwise we all know......stupidness of the some MPs in parliament.

M.Sogavare - determined, strong man and intelligent in his analysis. a kind of leader that can impacted change in country, very direct. I think that in order for us to be progressing forward, we have to think as Solomon Islanders, acted as Solomon Islanders and performed as Solomon Islanders. The Fact is that we are hard working and unique, we can drive our economic forward with the big brothers....STOP the dependancy -that is the message i read from this guy. He has some tainted character, but he is honest in his work ethics during his tenure as Parliament leader;- he is the best from the 50 men up there.
Just one think about this MAN ...the big brothers Aussie and NZ has DEMONISED him for being a Solomon Islander, a true warrior and believer in Solomon Islands self-reliance, I'd never go for any other than this man!!!

Anyone but Ete can see the stupidity of his nomination! Same can be said of Manetoali! If reports in Solomon Star are correct then Lifhaus is correct, The race is between Sogavare and Lilo! From the above, it seems like

From the above, it seems like Sogavare is kind of power hungry. I won't be surprised if he switchs camps just so to be come become PM. This sort of behaviour reflects a man with no integrity and principles (bae switch between, china or taiwan or run go long russia if usa no give long shopping list etc..).

man run go long nara camp (A) then se, u fala elect me PM then me and gang bae join you fala. bae me lead nation wetem policies blong you fala. IF camp (A) less long hem, then run go long camp (B) wetem different ammunition blong hem then traem oilem olketa more. Bae camp (A) and (B) shake head..gogo and have to compromise wetem hem.

A better option is for (A) and (B) to compromise than give to one, who's willing to go along with one as long as he/she becomes PM.

The Opposition camp or

The Opposition camp or supporters already did their internal elimination rounds and Sikua, Wale, Ete, Soga were knocked out and only Tozaka came thru'. Somehow they didn't accept the outcome and the process and therefore Ete and Soga jump over boat to gain support from other others. That shows the rest are all power hungers

The main attraction for those in current government is they will keep their portfolios. Ma who nao by less so I can now see why this will swing Lilo's way! Oketa lo Opposition lukim olsem last chance for get into government na ya! If they do not form next government they only have themselves to blame. Interesting that Solom Star calls Sogavare the people's choice so if the the MPs are elected by the people then they were surely not listening.
