The Solomon Islands National Provident Fund is seeking a suitably qualified person to fill the position oof Archives Officer.  The person recruited for this position will be responsible for policy development, coordination and storage management of all archives records and will report to Manager Administration.  He/She will provide leadership, direction and solutions for the Funds archives and will work as a team player in achieving the overall objective of the SINPF Board.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Ensure archives, strategies and procedures are developed and implemented to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of record storage and retrieval for reference purposes;
  2. Identify and design an acceptable archives system and procedures that meed the needs of the Department and Board;
  3. Ensure all archives information data are stored in a systematic manner for easy accessibility and retrieval if needed;
  4. Ensure all files/documents are properly recorded, catalogued and maintained properly at all times;
  5. Advice and institute archives security measures to ensure secrecy and confidentiality of Board's information;
  6. Identify relevant IT system and implement electronic recording of stored documents/information;
  7. Provide appropriate training for surbordinate staff to acquire such knowledge and skills of record storage and archives;
  8. Prepare annual plans and budget to facilitate operations of archives and capex expenditure;
  9. Perform other duties as may be directed by Manager Administration of General Manager of the Fund from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:

The vacant position requires a person who possesses practical application of the job required, demonstrate competency, commitment and enthusiasm, a team player, can communicate effectively and can work under minimal supervision.  The applicant must have a minimum qualification of Bachelors Degree in Library Studies or related field with a minimum work experience of 5 years in a library or archives setting.

Terms and Conditions

This is a position equivalent to Level 6A of the Fund's salary structure with a basic salary of SBD58,850.00 per annum plus 20% Housing Allowance.
