Spirit 08 FC, coached by the former Vanuatu National Team Coach Carlos Buzzetti and laced with its imported Fijians and Australians was prepared to do battle with Amical FC in order to leapfrog Tafea FC to second spot. Amical FC on the other was again prepared to use all its Solomon Islands imports to maintain their spot at the top of the Port Vila League.
The game started of at a very fast pace, though scrappy at times, as both teams struggled to apply pressure on each other. The first half showed the Amical FC's well organized defense containing the Spirit 08 strikers. Most of the pressure was on the Spirit 08 side of the goal mouth. Alot of chances fall to the Amical FC frontmen, Batram, Fenedy and Kidston. However they all failed to capitalise on those chances. Both teams went to the dressing room at half time with the score at 0 - 0.

The second half showed a renewed Spirit 08 FC side entered the pitch. This time they had a different game plan; to bombard the Amical FC goalmouth with aerial balls and fight for the second balls. A tactic quite often used by the Fijian teams, capitalising on their height. This tactic seemed to work for Spirit 08 FC as the Amical FC defenders started to feel the pressure from those long arial balls. This tactic also starved the Amical FC strikers from recieving the ball, which meant that they will cause less damage to the Spirit 08 defence.
Despite the continuous pressure, Richard Anisua and Nelson Sale continued to marshal their defense and getting the second ball to their midfield so that they could counter attack through Batram and Kidston in the flanks. The break through finally came in the 83rd minute of the game through a set piece. A free-kick was awarded to Amical FC outside of the 18 yards box and was taken by Amical FC midfielder Yalu. He chipped the ball into the box, and Fenedy rose above the Spirt 08 FC defenders to nod the ball into the path of the unmarked Batram who coolly put the ball beyond the reach of the Spirit 08 FC goal keeper.
The goal brought about much jubilation in stands as Amical FC fans celebrated.
Other results of the day saw a strong Vanuatu U20 side beat Tupuji Imere 3 - 1 and and a rejuvenated Tafea FC side beat Yatel FC 4 - 0.
The result mean Amical maintained its position at the top of the ladder, followed by Tafea FC and Spirit 08 FC. The young Academy (U20) side leapfrogged the Tupuji Imere FC side into fourth position.
This game also witnessed the introduction of Honiara businessman Bobo Dettke to the Vanuatu football scene. Mr Dettke donated an amount of vatu 100,000 (equivalent of SBD $10,000.00) to both teams.
