A mob of angry Malaita Eagle fans rioted at the Lawson Tama stadium today after the Eagles lost to Honiara. Details are sketchy at this time but SIFF confirms that the SIFF ofice at Lawson Tama has been burnt down.
Speaking with Lifhaus a SIFF spokesperson commented, "fans were unhappy with a disallowed goal and started shooting stones into the stadium. Referee decided to abandon the game but relented to a call to complete the game."

6 minutes before full time Honiara squad scored and that was when disgruntled fans went into a mayhem. "They also stole the gate takings at the gate and then broke into the Sports shop where someone lit the fire and as a result the office was burned down"
Lifhaus will bring you more updates at a later time.
UPDATE: Reports from eye witnesses at the scene indicated that certain shops at Chinatown were looted. "The people who looted the shops were opportunists who had no idea what was happening at Lawson Tama. I had asked one of the looters what happened in the game and he replied - what game?"
RAMSI Police have been deployed at Lawson Tama and are currently monitoring the situation. Police presence has been stepped up. Earlier in the day eye witnesses also informed Lifhaus that RAMSI fired blanks at the advancing crowd at Chinatown.
The SIFF office at Lawson Tama has been razed to the ground. "It happened quickly and Police was outnumbered."
Innocent bystanders and passing vehicles were also threatened and stoned during the chaos. "Our family sped out of the area as soon as we heard someone shouting - burn that vehicle."
It is still unclear what this latest incident will do to the Solomon Cup but there are already strong indications that our reputation in OFC has just hit another low point and we have not done much to improve anything including soccer.

Fans? Idiots? Animal Farm?
I was not there. Soccer has never captivated my interest that much and Solomon Soccer has never cultivated any soccer seedlings planted if there ever was that I did not know about. But from what I heard.. it does not sound like fans.. more like a case of teen agers looking for a chance to proof themselves the idiots they are.
Even Brazil looses, but I do not think Brazilians burn their shops because of that. If your team looses, do what the columbians did.. assasinate your players.. speaking of which, I do not support a Provincial cup that encourages Honiara soccer players to play for provinces. Part of the pull is new talent. In this case, we've had cases of teams playing for provinces
In the womens cup, Flamingo played as Isabel, Uncles as Malaita and Koloale as West..
But I guess the games commissioner sees sense in that so why complain.
So what can be done about the looting?
1. Never host the games in Honiara.. oh!! but damn!! the gate takings..
2. Charge $100 SBD per game.. so that only fans who can afford the price can come in..
5. Send these guys to prison and give them a whipping every friday for the next 10 years. Damaging property is such a high price to pay for watching 22 grown up men chasing an air filled leather around the park. What will E.T say or Nixau from the Gods must be Crazy.
As Orson Wells stated in Animal Farm.. "All animals are equal.. but some are more equal than others" such is the aura surrounding the Malaita team

Peter Marshall should listen to word on the street, does he have a mole out there? The happening seem to indicate that it was premeditated unless he is just trying to throw people off the scent.

Treat the cause
All these issues point to one thing which i believe is a national issue...treat the cause...If the government can be strong enough to address the issues of people's needs..meeting their social and safety needs..have strong enforced policies, then its unlikely that these kind of behaviour will surface and be evident at such time.. But also wan...nau..Iumi mala pipol too shud controlim people blo iumi for no duim kind stupid things osem..cos at the end of the day.. bae hem reflectim back province blo iumi seleva nomoa ia..Same for other provinces...strong leaders must have control over their people..So really its a shame on such a behavior, not necessarily the province
