Competition looks to be going good for bemobile

bemobile may not be a popular choice for some, but come to some rural areas on Malaita and you'll find loyal bemobile fans growing in numbers.

In an age where even a young kid wants to have his own mobile phone, many villagers took the opportunity of having mobile towers close to their villages to purchase the cheapest phones on the market to join the fun of communicating with others.

On Malaita this fan favours bemobile in some villages because in areas where Our Telekom network doesn't reach the people, bemobile is there to take care of it.

"I own a bemobile phone because I can still be reached in places where Telekom can't  be reached," said George Wasi, a student of Talakali Adventist High School.

For bemobile, the company, their marketing seems to be centered around luring more customers. And they did that with promotional offers.

Over the festive season, bemobile was up and running with promotions which many took great advantage of. For a topup of $80, a customer will get 20 days free on net calls which means that one can talk from a bemobile number to another free of charge for 20 days. That blessing is lengthen for 30 days if one buys a topup of  $100.

A little earlier before Christmas, bemobile offered free texting on week ends. That's when customers can text any numbers (including Telekom numbers) free of charge. On top of that, they have days in a week where they would offer double and tripple top ups to customers who recharge their phones with certain amounts of money.

" I got myself a bemobile SIM card besides my Telekom one and enjoyed communicating with friends over the x-mas period after topping up my phone with $80," said an excited local student who has just returned from Fiji for Holidays.

And students like that will really enjoy bemobile's latest addition to their list of services, the rolling of its new 3G network which is operational now in the capital, Honiara. " I really like this development, because it offers competition with Our Telekom which means that surfing the internet will be much cheaper," said the student who testified of enjoying a good service using bemobile's mobile internet service.

Up against the challenge, the giant communication provider in the country, Our Telekom, showed why people must stick with them by slashing down the price of its mobile phones to celebrate Christmas.

But it looks like the bemobile team is wasting no time in taking up the challenge. And if there is a way to show this, it's going to be their technique of luring in customers -and that is their special promotions.
