Honiara resident stunned by SIEA Bill

A Honiara resident, who wishes to remain anonymous at this time, has revealed to Lifhaus that he believes SIEA "or at least someone from within the organization is not being honest with customers."  Our SIEA customer explained that he has recently received a $13,000 bill from SIEA and a February bill worth $200 when he has been using Cashpower since January.

"I am very surprised on this latest twist in the saga but I admit I have been arguing with SIEA over two years ago when I disputed their bills to me." said the frustrated SIEA customer.  He revealed that as a result of this dispute and his refusal to pay the outstanding amount, SIEA cut off his electricity.  "Since 2008, I have been without power and I applied for Cashpower and this was installed in January this year."

Last week, he was surprised to receive a $200 bill for February and a outstanding bill of more than $13,000 for the past two years.  "I have not been using power from SIEA in the last two years and now they send me a bill for the past two years when I did not have any electricity to my house?  And to top things off, they send me a bill for electricity when I already have Cashpower installed in my house since January?"

Lifhaus has heard of many customer complaints regarding disputed SIEA bills.  "There have been rumours among many Honiara residents that allege very serious breaches of public trust by SIEA.  Most customers just pay up because they are not prone to launching themselves into any argument with SIEA.  However, this is the first case that may cast some inclination to believe those rumours."

The Honiara resident has revealed that he has yet to approach SIEA over the latest bills but acknowledge that "the public needs to be aware of this problem.  Why is SIEA charging me for electricity I have not used in 2 years.  And why is SIEA charging me for power when I am now currently using Cashpower?  There is something wrong or someone is simply guessing.  Because if they had sent someone to my house, he would see for himself that the meter has been dead since 2008 and it is still currently dead because I now have Cashpower."
