"Today’s line up will feature most players who were benched during the first match against Guam on Saturday according to coach Jacob Moli"
Me no lukim eni logic behind this fala technique. By umi try for continuity or by umi give chance for everyone play? Coach shud garem finish winning combination blo hem. Hem shud lettim oketa play until oketa winnim gold medal ya before hem try for findim new combination! Dis fala move hem no gud for Bonitos. Me lelebet lukim lo World Cup, every substitute save finish role blo oketa and oketa ready nomoa time turn blo oketa for play. dis one ya technique blo late 60's na JM like doim yet lo new millenium ya oketa ae! Osem me fit for coach nomoa...LOL
True iaa neo. Which club now JM coachem long honiara? Coach blong Koloale or Warriors lelebeti!
7 nil against Guam (a minor) is nothing to brag about but i wish the team all the best in the remaining game.
go Solo, go,
mi still no likem kind man osem Moli ya...any way any wan save talem how long na Eddie Ngava stay lo SIFF man...never seen his son, the one who's in the national team, playing. But some said hem no mas play nice tumas nomoa...may be umi save do away with the MOLI SYNDROME by getting ride of people from SIFF ya...napu nao...
*MOLI SYNDROME by getting rid of people like Ngava from SIFF ya...napu nao..
No wonder Bonito no save kakae lo second half against ASamoa. Even if it is a second string team or reserve players, all should be eaqually prepared to play, after all they are the ones selected out of the many. The second half result is unacceptable, watch out for NC which is more sharpe and coordinated football unlike us Bonitos.
the Bonitoes r finding it hard to go pass the Vanuatu team....world ya hard tumas nao
game ba just finish n what na by JM talem? Ma lus na ya. When a coach hem still struggle waitim starting line up blo hem - hem problem na ya. New Caledonia jus beatim American Samoa 8-0 n umi the only statistics better then Vanuatu is 2 yellow card. Most important one na 1 goal blo Vanuatu. Bonito try beatim NC (sapos u fala win, upset nao ya) but hem luk olsem this fala SPG campaign hem lost cause! JM should come home and banish himself from all levels of football! SIFF hem time for start serious about game ya. NC luk olsem hem garem plan for succeed on home soil den go on waitim dream blo hem for kasim WC. Hem possible. PNG but draw waitim Tahiti. Unheard of! umi Solo still same style, same gear and same result. nafu na!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another sad day for Solomon soccer. Iumi no lane yet?
lelebet good fala news nomoa that spc no long a wc qualify.
hope they do better agains nc to salvage sam pride but think statics will favor vanuatu and nc.
if lost more long nc then jm and gang, i meant the whole siff admins should packup and clear the siff offices.
statiscally, hem better option for umi wrappim game againstim Vanuatu. N sapos umi struggle for win against oketa, hoa mas moa NC wea hem beatim Vanuatu 5-0. But if umi draw against NC beating Tuvalu hem still a must (so how sapos Tuvalu and its overseas coach barracadim goal ya olsem Samoa did in U20 years ago???)...umi taking chances nomoa ya. So safest bet blo umi was to either beat or draw with Vanuatu....umi garem chance - me no countim umi out but sapos umi no save beatim Vanuatu..chances for beatim NC or eni other strong team hem smol na ya. so big goal for "golden" bonito ya swim come back langi na!!!!
On the point of this not being a WC qualifier...firstly, gud excuse every time umi lose na ya..next time, e no important game etc - this is a losing mentality. that one must stop! what hem important is winning now and winning every game! umi must developim attitude for win olowe. secondly, NC definitely will take the momentum of winning in the SPG into the WC qualifiers + Fiji + Tahiti + PNG + Vanuatu..umi by still plotting to beat Vanuatu..this is playing catch up which will never win us anything..hem olsem nomoa time ba Alan Gillet coach umi no suddenly come out nomoa n win lo Aussie ba! The winning trend started way back during the preliminary until the actual qualifiers in Australia. By then we were not playing catch up, we were winning and everyone was trying to beat us. Hem always a good place to be.
So all is not lost but the best possible preparation (momentum) for the WC qualifiers is lost too.
Umi just need for lukim WC teams for save that this is true.
Ting Ting blo me olsem nmoa.....JM barava no fit for coach na....... Luke Eroi Lelebet guys ae.....Or better still overseas based coach nao....Me as a soccer fan, me barava no garem confidence na lo SIFF..... Me lookim oketa stadium and facilities blo NC me shorte na.... I think SIFF tekem small slen from FIFA compared to NC ya man or how?LOL
Story come
I think this is the best bunch of players we have and the same story as in Samoa SPG came back haunted us. When will our country ever produced players that can play as a team and win games. Individually no doubt but not as team. At least when the coach is not up to spur but these brilliant players on paper didn't show on the field.
Me no save na but soccer is loosing its footing in the SI except for futsal.
No worry everyone umi na Brazil of the Pacific, lo name nomoa hahaha. Brazil no win yet so JM say nomoa yet too ya hahaha. Umi over na, Sapos coaching team blo Koloale na coach they can create a winning team. Jeff technical advisor frm USA ,why dont they put him on board?
Ting ting blo mi is that maybe if iumi puttim go Kurukuru team and management na go fo representim Solo lo 11 aside na bae iumi save lukim medal ia. They maybe young but they have the skills, winning team combination, passion and most importantly that winning attitude which I don't think the current team or coach has.
SIFF officers, get up and go...naf favourim ota unbenefit couch osem Moli ya nao...Moli u wiki...lol maka lol
mi readim lo Solstar today JM blaim his players and cover up for em seleva saying that players did not listen to him!! Oh help can't beleive a coach to say that.
Shows how unfit he is for the job. Wat kaen coach na bae tok olsem ia! You play as a team, you win as a team and you lose as a team! nafu na fo blame olobaot, take some responsibility tu ba.
SIFF officials its time for you to pack up and leave that office for the good of the game, we have many good players but for findem rigth players hard lo ufala.
Well qualifying matches for the WC is around the corner. Better SIFF put together its heads and start looking for better coach and start train new players plus those that went to SPG
YA. all barava luk nogud lo NC so need to remove themselves na, coach ya barava no sound confident na..come home & have some fund from SIFF
didn't see the game against vanuatu, but some friends told me that JM put players in diff positions. Time for experiment finish now but coach ating still yet for findem right combination for NC!. As others have already mentioned, the boys that went over there have the potential to win gold and nating less.
ating coach now problem and must go. Get the Koloale coach and this white fella they talked about. They might form the righ combination.
A friend who watched tv told me that Totori play contract tomas. might what JM say hem turu that players no listen long hem (might problem between players and coach).
whatever me think coach yet to be blemed for not stamping authority blong hem so players play according long game plan blong hem.
iaa tingting blong me nomoa.
Look i agree it is not right to air the dirty laundry esp in the media. It shows a lack of unity and does nothing to help build confidence in players. We all agree JM was not the right choice and it looks very likely we will not win any medal! What a shame! PNG looks like it will and we cannot? Shame on those who have made this happen! We should be progressing and instead we are fighting for scrap? We can no longer live like this! But hem no matter lo SIFF, they still get to go on fully funded overseas trips! Who nao by les? Osem by me supportim squad blo Justin Mutukera nomoa, at least squad blo hem led by M Taro kasim WC finish! Go Black Go!!!!
Iufala giveup lo Solo finis?
Iufala start for blamim SIFF, blamim JMoli, blamim Eddie Ngava, laekem nara coach, etc etc. Hao iufala no save acceptim that lo game blong SI and Vanuatu, Vanuatu got the better finishing and so olketa win. Vanuatu hem better team on that day noa so olketa win so congrats Vanuatu. They were a better team that day. Olsem nomoa ia. No blame olbaot.
While in my opinion the current SI squad has not quite connected yet and lead up prep could have been done much better, me no give up long this fala team yet ia. We have a winner in this team. They just have to connect and i bet you they will connect during the game against New Caledonia at 3pm today.
Olketa just have to play as a team nomoa and not as individuals.
NC bae cry today at 3pm.
love ur sense of belief...it'll surely going to be a game to watch ya...hope bae Solo come back!!
fuct ya,
what a name! go solo go!
no give up yet..skin them da nc.
is following the txt commentary rite now!!
is following the txt commentary rite now!!
SOLO TEK
Solo's thru to the semi-final..belief blo u thru nao @Fuct Yu
hahahahaha....fuct ya! u real prophet....but it still does not change the fact that the core problem that most commentator lukim nao is dat SIFF needs to change. JM needs to give way for Solomon improve. hem nao ting ting blo me. no mata umi winim gold, silver, bronze or plate rice, SIFF still needs to go becos other countries change na, oketa tekem development blo oketa, standard blo oketa go up higher while umi no showim eni sign of progress. 2-1 hem great result by umi playim Fiji next! Bonitos win today but by soccer win every time too?
I told you guys. We just beat the Gold medalist in their home ground. That says a lot about the potential of our team. Ok some of you may say that they didnt start their first 11..That may be true but in any case, our boys regrouped, they connected better than previous games and produced the desired result.
My prediction was spot on so i have the license to play the coach a bit..
In the game against NC, if you watched it, and if you know football, you will notice straight away that our boys played a different game. They played more like a team. The winning goal by Naka was from a deft back heal flip from Totori. That is the key to our Gold medal eveyone! Totori has to change and be the play maker up front. Not Faroodo. We are an attacking team. The playmaker has to be upfront and Totori is the key to our success. Hem just need for beatim not more than two players nomoa and then setim ball ia for olketa narawan nao score..Bingo and finis play!
Fiji is next.
Tonight New Caledonia and Vanuatu nao cry.
Lo coming Wednesday me nao bae cry..cry kaen overjoy ia cos bae iumi winim Fiji and go for grand final!
Hi everyone, I have been reading this thread with interest since @neo posted. Also been following @OFCFootball on Twitter to keep in touch with the updates on the game. So I was so excited when we won today. Initially, when we lost to Vanuatu I was very discouraged because I had followed our team for a long time with so much pride while time and time again we have failed to win the ultimate prize. Those who know me, know that I have publicly expressed my displeasure at how SIFF is running soccer both on media and to my circle of friends. But I wholeheartedly support the team, I believe in the boys and above all, I want them to succeed. This is where I differ to other commentators on my disagreement with SIFF. I am of the belief that inspite of the millions of dollars poured into the game both by SIFF and its corporate sponsors, we have not seen our talented players gain much benefit from this windfall. The players and the fans (like me and you) are what makes footbal the most beautiful game in the world. Not those in the office who are running the show. Have our boys/clubs profited from soccer? No! So it matters to me that the current SIFF administration has not catered for the benefits to filter down to the players. I think a step in the right direction was sharing the gate takings at the S-League with the franchises but in steps the club administrators too!!! Essentially, what I want to see is players enjoying the fruits of their hardwork and talent. I mean if C Ronaldo can be valued at 17.7M per year why not Solomon players? Our boys get nothing for doing all the hardwork - that is what I cannot stomach when seeing SIFF officials jet to and fro! People like Eke/Dettke put a lot of money into soccer but what money have officials, for example like S Faisi, put into soccer?
Back to this thread. There are three issues I see in this discussion. One that of the coach. With due respect to JM, I agree with commentators that it is risky business experimenting so late into the competition. Whether he is the right coach - that is a matter of opinion and we are all entitled to our opinions on that. My opinion, I have met and talked with him. he has great ideas, he picks out little details in the game but I think sometimes he comes out a little too confrontational for our boys. But who knows, his tactics are working for now. The second issue is whether SIFF has done its part in preparing the boys. To be honest, they have but I agree with other commentators that to make the best use of this team the coach JM should have been surrounded with some additional brains (like this much talked about Jeff of Koloale) because the best management team complements a great and successful soccer team. Thirdly, can we win? I really really want to know if these games are streamed online so that like @fuct yu (what a horrible name but I understand your frustrations), I can make my own conclusions. Apart from Totori, Fa'arodo, Naka and a few others who I have watched playing with different teams, I do not know the strengths of this team well enough to draw my own conclusions. But I want to share my thoughts on the comment by some people who say Benjamin Totori hem contract tomas. Here is what I think from watching Totori play with Wantoks - he is not an out out striker like Paia, Lui or Nawo; he needs the ball at his feet and his striking partner must be constantly moving with a very high level of anticipation for what Totori will do and what he wants to do. So if you are not responding to how he plays, he will go at it alone. So the solution, he needs a midfielder like Judd Molea or George Lui who play right behind him giving the team an all out attack but defensive position. But just by looking at the team, I see more defensive midfielders then attacking ones like Molea or Lui. So what happens? Totori plays the role of two people as a striker and as an attacking midfielder. A variation of this is having another striker like Kidston Billy partner him. This attacking formation has worked numerous times for Wantoks so it could have been used here although I have heard JM and Willie Lai openly question work ethics of KB so he would have been a very long shot. But in Totori's defense, he really needs an attacking midfielder in the team so that he can be as dangerous as we all know he can be.
What ever happens in the semi-finals remains to be seen. I will not predict but I hope we will win. If not, I swallow my pride and wait....and hope....and wish for next time!! LOL
Go Solo Go

Ok now that I have cooled down a bit, I agree that nem blong me hem needim change...me changim nem blong me from 'Fuct Yu' to 'Big Red Round Ball'..So my next post will be after the Fiji game..
Big Red Round Ball loves you all! :)
Go Solo Go!
@Big Red Round Ball... lol maka lol.... steady dea!!
for answerim own question blo me. Yes oketa lanem lesson and stretim some fala something for team win. umi wait for lukim moa if oketa good some ting ya by continue tomorrow.
In today's SStar, Moli revealed his line-up for Fiji.
Keeper - Shadrack Ramoni
Defenders - Samson Takayama, Seni Ngava, Tome Faisi, Nelson Sale
Midfielders - Jnr Faarodo, Mostyn Beui
Forwards - Joses Nawo, Totori, Joe Luwi, Naka
Coach mentioned that they will be playing a different style against Fiji, being aware of Fiji's physical style of play and their long ball tactics. This basically means Solo will be using counter attack tactics, meaning they will be doing the wave 1 and wave 2 counter attack tactic. Wave one will be short 1 two passes, squeezing the opponent at an acute angle, most likely towards either of the flanks and then sudden through ball making the opponents defenders to turn. Fiji's weakness is they are big and not quite quick on their feet so the more we make them turn around to chase the ball in sudden acute counter attacks the more we can penetrate. Watch this tactic that's what they will use.
They will also advise Faarodo and Totori to keep the ball in the penalty area looking for a foul for either penalty or to use Faarodo's deadly freekicks.
The danger in us using this tactic is temptation to dribble and not pass. But I guess they are aware of this and have learned their lessons.
We will see a lot of short passes and holding on to the ball in this game and sudden through balls to Naka, Luwi or Nawo. Totori and Faarodo will be used as a lure upfront, pulling the Fijian defenders.
I will also be watching for either Mostyn or Faarodo to play more of a holding midfielder and also holding back whenever we attack as Fiji will be doing a lot of long balls to Krishna for their counters.
Shhhhh dont show this post to the Fijian coach otherwise bae hem save anda talem olketa players blong hem.
I will be bold and predict a 3-1 win to Solo for this game.
Go Solo Go!
Big Red Round Ball loves you all!
Can't wait for 2pm today.
Sorry but Krisna ba hem no bibilei today.hem red card against Cooks
if Krisna no plei, then score hem 3-0! long Solo favor.
go solo go..bring the cap hom.
if Krisna no plei, then score hem 3-0! long Solo favor.
go solo go..bring the cap hom.
Good luck Solo...will cross my fingers and hope for the best...only pray that the boys won't take the task lightly...but Go Solo Go
Solo sud tek na ya
hahahah! Man man this is so sweet!
We won 2-1 against Fiji.
Now we face NC again for the grand finals. We are on the roll and the surely all focus is on the Gold medal.
I will be really rapted if the only gold medal comes from the sport that many have dismissed way before they left the country..and actually that is what's going to happen. Gold nao!
Ok on the Fiji game, we looked shakey during the first half and good part of second half. We were bombarded by the Fijian long balls and the typical solo 1-2 touch game wasnt executed. I must give credit to the four defenders Faisi, Seni, Timo Joe & Sale, for even without Takayama they managed to give the Fijians problems..Also credit to Ramoni for some critical saves and I think lady luck was also on our side...the Fijian headers and that bicycle kick from the Fijian striker was heart stopping..We also had some chances up front..actually Totori on 2 or 3 occassions had only the Fijian keeper to beat but due to some good goal keeping he was denied.
Overall we deserved the win. Our boys played quite well, coming back from 1 nil to win the game..and man did the Fijians turn their bomb tactics on! It was like a rugby up and under..Fiji holem ball nomoa instead for long balls they did long bombs..they kicked the ball at more than 45 degrees into the air aiming it to come down within the Solo 18 yard for a Fijian header..It was frightening! But on all occassions our defenders rose up to the challenge.
Overall we could have put at least 3 more goals in..and our boys only started playing the short passes in the added time..but hey we won!
So we have defeated the soccer giants in the Pacific, excluding NZ and discounting the Vanuatu win. We already won the Gold medal. The game on Friday is to just confirm that the win against NC wasnt a fluke.
We will win the game against New Caledonia and soccer will come home with the much awaited gold medal. Silver is already guaranteed..For those who dont know the last time we won silver was in 1996 I think...long time ago..and we have never won a Gold medal in the South Pacific games. This year it is our time to win the Gold.
We rest tonight, rest tomorrow and then on Friday at 8pm we party when the final starts.
hahahaha..New Caledonia here we come!
Big Red Round Ball loves you all!
@Big Red Round Ball, as others have said lets hope your predictions are prophetic! LOL. I was only able to get Twitter as usual because time difference meant I was still asleep when most of you were following the game!!! I really appreciate the after game analysis by @Big Red Round Ball. Maybe if we win the gold by hem become the Big Gold Round Ball? LOL. Our brightest hope for the gold medal, M Leong just lost and will play for bronze na. I was also disappointed by that. Looks like the Justification screening did not work or other competitors have improved dramatically? I think its the improvement bit! Have fun!

Congratulations - destaem silver, bata Solo no lanem any lesson yet - the past has proven that,Solo bara low chance fo winim any team twice at the finals stage.
Ating lesson now is dat hem taem fo bo bostam oketa big round ball (ino no dat wan fo kickim, narawan fo ting ting yia).
Ple weitem bik raon bol bata flatem lelebet nara bik raon bol.

Aiya - ating bae mi traem runnim taxi fo save up da next 8 years...
I have watched the final game between solo and caledonia and it's a total disappointment, from the first whistle blew to the final whistle, I knew it was the caledonia's games, they know their game plan, they stick to it, create opportunities and secured themselves with goals. Our boys are great, we have some of the finest footballers in the region, but still we couldn't hit the jackpot, so many mistakes and failures done in the final match! my point is we need to stop and asks ourselves if we want to continue with soccer or lets forget it, cos it's just not the players who are the problem/s. There's heaps of problems with our football industry, admin, coaching and heaps of other reasons that we should be looking at.
Solomon Islands plays good football, and that is a fact, but when we don't send the right team, with the right coach, we get to pay the price, and that price is DEFEAT!
I mean if you watched the final, we just playing ourselves, Totori was magnificent, buts lucks support, the defenders are slack, no tight defense, too many errors, poor passes and uncoordinated game plan, that's what makes us go down to the caledonians!
We let them defeat us! even though we have good quality players! anyways, so we have to wait for the next four years, well that is another story!
May God Bless us all!
a silver medal is SIFF's lifeline for another day. The grieving public by forgiving lelebet becos of the silver. this only hurts our chance for change. Agree with Kalulu, a lot of problems in our soccer so there is very little point in celebrating. The next focus is the WC qualifiers. May be a better preparation, a new coach and a new approach with the same or modified team bring better results? I definitely think so but because of the silver SIFF, JM get another life line to live for another day. Mark my words if there was talk of change, JM will show them his new shiny silver medal to say he deserves another chance. Oh well, isn't that how the fittest survive?
Solo forget about soccer and try swimming, hehehe
Mi sorry but set nomoa cos the moment whole country no hope for all kasem final but all long finale.
NEW CALEDONIA, is the true champion of Soccer in Pacific, 6 times na hem winim. Truely they are the champion
