The demise of other popular Solomon Islands sites, Tutuvatu, Peoplefirst Network and One Television has impacted Lifhaus. In the past few months, Lifhaus administrators have seen greater activity in its discussion forums as well as an increase in visitors to the site. At the same time, the improvement in statistics is encouraging the Lifhaus development team to push the long awaited new Lifhaus website into the public domain.
"We are seeing more and more number of people coming to the site each day, even if it is simply to check what has changed, this is a major improvement," said our Senior Lifhaus Administrator.

Many people would like to think that the hits are mostly from overseas but "Solomon Islands remains the highest in terms of daily visits followed by Fiji and Australia." Lifhaus tries to appeal to those looking for alternative views of current events as well as a stress free, moderated discussion forum.
"Our discussion forums are popular with users but for a while it was lacking the quality of discussions seen on Tutuvatu, Peoplefirst and other sites. Recently this has changed and we would like to see this improve."
"Lifhaus is still finding its niche but competition is very high. People are more prone to going onto Facebook then on Lifhaus. This is simply something we cannot compete with. Having said that, I think there is great value in coming to Lifhaus since at this present time we focus entirely on everything about the Solomon Islands." said our Senior Lifhaus Administrator. He also stressed that "Solomon Islanders are sometimes ignorant of privacy issues but it is a huge issue with Facebook and other public social networking sites. With Lifhaus your data is kept within the country and we do not pass these onto third parties. Lifhaus Administrators are bounded by a strong sense of moral obligation to never divulge the source of information shared on Lifhaus. So this is a strong selling point for us."
Plans for upgrading the site have long been delayed due to changing priorities of those involved in this project. "We have said, this is a voluntary initiative. We do not operate on a budget. We do not make money out of this product so obviously it will be very difficult to spend time building this medium for Solomon Islanders to converge on." However, a working prototype of the new website viewed by the News Desk shows a lot of promises.
"We have seen dramatic changes in the new site and are pressing with the technical team to deploy it sooner then later." Included is a Twitter feed where all Solomon Islanders on Twitter can share their tweets on Lifhaus. "There is a Lifhaus Wall, which is similar to Facebook and the Photos section of the website has been completely redesigned. Its a very promising upgrade and we at the News Desk are excited about these changes." When pressed, our Senior Lifhaus Administrator admitted that the upsurge in hits has motivated his team to continue development work. "However, I cannot tell you exactly when it will be launched but yes its a new brand, new look with newer functionalities."
Our Senior Lifhaus Administrator is appealing to those who want to write stories for Lifhaus to express their interest and contribute.
