Marist FC arrived yesterday in Port Vila for their O-League game against Tafea FC of Vanuatu. A total of twelve players and two officials touch down in Port Vila, while four other players will arrive on Thursday via the Honiara-Brisbane-Port Vila flight.
The Marist FC team is currently accommodated at the Mele Village on the outskirts of Port Villa. The Mele community had provided our boys with all the needed materials as well as permission to use their soccer ground for trainings.

However, it is noted that a number of notable key players are missing from the Marist FC teamlist. Only two senior players, Commins Menapi and Abraham Iniga arrived with the team. The coach said most of the senior players had moved overseas for other teams or on study commitments overseas.
The boys had the opportunity to watch Tafea FC play last night against the host village team (Tupuji Imere FC) at the Port VIla Municipal Stadium. This ill tempered game saw a red card and 8 yellow cards flashed to players and a supporter. The game was a very important game for Tafea FC as they need to win in order to keep in touch with Amical FC at the top of the Port Vila League. Solomon Islands import, Fraser Maebule scored the only goal for Tafea FC. His goal was canceled out by a long range shot from the young Mele village team.
The game provided the boys a glimpsed of what they expect from the host team in their O-League game on Saturday. Also some of the local boys were astonished to see a supporter yellow-carded in a league game.
Marist FC would also like to thank owner of Amical FC Andrew Leong for his support, especially with the donations of food items for the team.
