The government says that it does not have the money to send medial students to Cuba because they are not allowed to take $800,000 from the evil Iranians (errr, I'm not corrupt, but the man who gave me the free money was), yet PM Sikua announces that the government lost $433 million due to corruption and mismanagement. Shame, shame, shame, shame, shame. Will this rubbish never end??
Mind you if it is for Politicians’ (Members) allowance the government will quick to resolve the situation, like the controversial spouse entitlements, in fact they are willing to pay for this had the public not interfering.
The Govt and esp Foreign Affairs Minister is hunting around to extablish Political ties to Countries with money, despite whoever, whatever that Country is. All the Govt want is "give us money and we will support you". Doesn't that sound childish? We throw support only because they give us money not from our ethical & moral judgement. Money is all that matters now!!! Whilst I agree the Govt needs money, should the govt use money as the basis for judgement?... I will not be suprised to see students send to Tehran soon to study chemistry and how to make nuclear weapons...
Why not seek funds to build a medical school at home instead and train locals and/or recuit outsiders to teach in the school. If Fiji & PNG can have medical schools why not Solo? Iumi waitim what time ia? Seek funds to improve SICHE and the once number 1 Tech Institution in the Pacific. We used to host students from other Pacific Island Countries.. what happens now???..Iumi dudu back moa... Education is our big need locally, yet nothing has been done with SICHE yet.... Every selen blo Taiwan go lo wea nomoa ia?....
SI’s foreign policy says, make friends, enemy to none. In the eyes of our Western allies, this has a backwash effects in our relations. If this is our foreign policy, then what are our principles and obligations as an egalitarian State? Surely, our top SI officials must draw a line when comes to decision making that will subsequently haunt the country. A classical example is the hunting of gold mine to fund the airfares of prospecting SI’s medical doctors, which the government with its right frame of mind could have dealt with the matter internally. What is so difficult for the SI government to pay for the airfares, when the Cuban government will provide the rest? If the SI politicians can easily agreed about their entitlements without any hesitation, I see no reasons why funding for airfares should be any problem. Or hao every selen finish na long millions unaccounted for ia? No wonder people claiming right and left because they see the government have lots of money, the government doesn’t care loosing millions. Hem normal run nomoa ating?
So pliz government use wisdom and moral sometimes and do not allow your ego for money making friends as a political tool or means.
All the above posts show me that we have a much highly educated group of individuals writing these posts than there are in the government.... hat fo blame time majority lo ota govt members ya lowely educated nomoa!! class 6!!.... no wonder they never make wise choices in national interests.
A politician/ A leader, is only a REPRESENTATIVE of the people he leads, they have only gained power through elections, and therefore shows that the people that have elected them are themselves lowely educated, since a majority is needed to win an election, then it shows that the majority of voters are lowely or uneducated to have elected their own dumb representative. Either way you look at it, majority of solomon islanders are uneducated but have voting power equal to an educated vote, therefore the problem lies in the need to educated all solomon islanders, mainly in rural areas where they can be easily lured into voting for the wrong reasons, an uneducated vote to back a lowely educated representative into parliament.
Blind lead blind!! The dumb and dumber!!
Just an extra thought here, the Cuban government was also not a representative of its poeples interests, untill the majority of intellectuals combined and made a stand for themselves, since they could not see a better leader eventuating. They forcedly overthrew the government, REVOLUTION , threw the corrupt officials in jail, or executed them and called upon all the intellectuals to return and run the country, Solomon Islands certainly has enough intellectuals overseas with expertese in all fields needed to run this country of ours, i certainly would not object to such a revolution, maybe a more peaceful one that eventuated in all intellectuals taking up theirrightful positions and reaping their rightful benefits and leading our country into a better and brighter future,
Why fight against each other in common ethnic tensions when the common enemy is already at hand, when the common evil has alredy struck all solomon islanders who have suffered because of their self endulgence and irresponsible , uneducated descisions.
If i were to choose between another ethnic tension or a revolution, it would be the obvious choice,
A REVOLUTION!!!!,,,,,,,,, wheres our castro??? minus the communism!
..........................wheres our che??? minus the bloodshed!
