I am proud to see such a building of that class to be built in the country (See Solomontimes.com)...though I am not from the west but I am still still proud of it. One thing that I would like to say to my brothers of the west, please ensure that it looks clean always... you are very fortunate to have it. Avoid unnecessarry spitting of bettlenut....this is an on going concern in the country at the moment...Bettenut spitting barava spoelem oketa luknice building blo iumi wea iumi should be proud lo hem ya...No offense to Bettle nut chewers but this happens....So my western brothers keep that building clean as much as possible

Tingting blo me nmoa...Ufala tok come moa

this hospital has not even

this hospital has not even got one patient in it yet. It was built without a kitchen or laundry. the hospital has a fence around it and the old hospital is still in use. now there are tenders out through the province to build the kitchen and laundry. this will turn into a rip off, and the hospital will be a new disaster for the west

@komburu. Mi no think osem ya

@komburu. Mi no think osem ya ba hem no become a disaster hem wanfala national project blo government and projects all garem phases. Everything bae no save happen at the same time, building ya complete na ya thanks to the government of Japan. Now hem turn blo government blo umi for completim and many other organisations save come help nomoa for mekem hospital ya up and running and it will come to pass ba umi lukim and its our wish for our people to have a proper medical facilites.

listy, Bro yu lukim haus too?

listy, Bro yu lukim haus too? Three storey building, top two floor the windows do not open. it depends on air conditioning for cooling. Is the province going to pay for that power? Can the Ministry pay for the electricity? what happens to the sickies when the power is off? bai olketa cookie insait? It is an inappropriate design for solomons. Certainly does not take the current context and constraints into account.
The building is a project yes, this first part was funded by JICA, using their own techniques and experts. This phase is now finished and hand over to SIG. finis.

Komburu Solomon Small ples

Komburu Solomon Small ples umi everywan lukim nomoa, hopital ya. but time umi no usim yt u outem cme tintin blo u nao. which is still to be proved. Hopefully it baebae hem ok nomo bcos engineering expert na come & duim everytin ya not people lo road olobaot nomoa ya. Time all duim designs & all these things all take into account our environment, weather and many other aspects, pipol all expert lo hem ya . Japan cannot cme & buildim nomoa building wea after they build it we dont have any benefit lo hem.

Taking into account on operational cost sure it will be huge but theres always a way out of everyting. Sapos Ministry of health in consultation with province askem help from other aid donors bae save meetim cost blo electricity u warim 2mas ya. How standby generator hem no possible as well?

Anyway since you raisim issue ya what na solution blo u?

@Komburu, ur views are

@Komburu, ur views are valid...no any wan lo right mind blo hem shud againstim ya...Point now osem...waswe olketa pipol wea fundim oketa project ya any time sidaon together waetem olketa local authorities for discusim na project ya. Thru lo kind discussion osem nao bae umi kam up waitem wat na bae fitim local environment blo umi or for addim go moa bae thru lo kind discussions osem tu bae umi save kam up waitem facility wea bae hem isi for umi managim seleva time ota aid donars ya finis waetim part blo oketa...It's not realistic if we set up a facility with issues as high lighted by Komburu, becos at the end of the day umi nao by managim behind ya......Listy hem say "operational cost sure it will be huge but theres always a way out of everyting"... time umi no inside lo problem yet we can say what ever we can say ya but this truth is still the most admirable "prevention is better than cure"...Simply put, if we look at an issue from a lot of angles, we can surely read what dangers may lie ahead.

A good example of what I'm tryin to get at happens in Suva some years back. FSMed was a proud recipient of a new campus from the European Union. Named the Pasifika campus, the new development was so flashy when it opened its doors in 2006. But just a few years later problems started to surface. To walk up the stairs to the third floor, one, esp women, has to shield off their skirts nicely cos people wea stand up lo underneath save luk kam up nomoa cos the stairs are not made in a way that bae people no luk kam underneet time u waka bout on top. I heard from one of our lecturers that time oketa EU go head waka lo project ya oketa no even consultim nao local authorities lo say blo oketa lo buildings ya...

So my point is, when the project was designed hopefully the resp. authorities took into consideration the issue of the local environment, culture and all these things...cos umi nao bae usim, no oketa maedo lo Japan ya...osem nao think think blo mi...any way tagio fara nao Japan for helpem mifala oketa pipol lo Solomon.

@me what you sharem barava

@me what you sharem barava tru nao.but Japan & solo government all discussim everyting finis before they built this building. It supposed to be a 5 storey ya bt since hem stay kolsap lo sea & sandy ground hem no strong with engineerings reccomendation they re-designed it to be 3 story.

Anyway i dont want to dwell more on this and one thing is sapos ufala share cme lastime time all no build yet ba umi sud talem oketa for all considerem wad ur saying which i kno they already consider.

for now ba mi sitdwn and luk luk what will happen next on this building. but i am optimistic ba everything should be set. all the best
