is Rini seriously trying to be PM

Just a question I would like to pose on this forum.  It is time to be honest and speak truthfully.  Is Snyder Rini still an unpopular choice like he was in the last election?  And if he still is, would it be fair to have him as PM?  According to reports, the Independents have claimed 21 MPs, that is enough to give him the power to sway things in his favour.  This is probably the reason why having RAMSI is a disadvantage; their security may install an unpopular PM but that is assuming nothing has changed since he was unceremoniously ousted in his brief tenure as PM.  Honestly, I would like to see parliamentarians do the right thing for once and this country needs new ideas and a new PM with a cabinet that is geniunely interested in developing our country.  The likes of Rini, Sogavare etc have had their chance and they have only been too busy policking without making any real change.  This is time for change - I hope those highly qualified elected MPs put aside their egos and work for the common good of our beloved Solomon Islands.  Nafu lo chasim power na....Rini is obviously not the best choice for PM, he has made decisions based on personal interests than those of the country. Oketa lo Marovo tok nao but Solomon Islanders must say NO....Looking forward  to the election of the PM!

Sometimes I find Neo's views

Sometimes I find Neo's views too extreme for my liking but I am afraid I have to concur with this thought.  Just read http://www.solomonstarnews.com/news/national/7433-lobbying-starts and it startles me what Mr Kaitu'u is trying to say here.  I have always had the view that the AIMP are simply opportunists.  I totally disagree with Mr Kaitu'u's assertion that they have an election platform and policies.  All parties should stay clear of this group and those that finally end up bedding with these people are all simply hungry for power.  I am afraid people will not force them out of power like they did last time but if there were any peaceful protest by the majority of people to ensure that this group does not get into power, I will gladly join.  They do not even know their own members, that is simply the reason why they have not revealed who the 21 members of their party are, people need to be mindful of the fact that there are now agents walking around with wads of cash for those feeble minded, lose-moraled MP's who will say 'yes' for money simply because they are already broke after the elections.

Stop Regionalism!!

I think quality is important than quantity ia!. In that i mean, wether GG & PM both comes from the same Province, wouldnt bother me. What matters is, the integrity of the person vying for the role. Regionalism divides us all. Remember, United we stand, Divided we fall. So, the slightest element of division will tarnish the quality of leadership that our beloved Solo should display and be proud of. Whilst regionalism and patriotism breeds some sense of loyalty they cannot be misinterpreted and taken out of context when it comes to choosing a good leader for the nation. There moa na me ting olketa group blo Rini and Tausinga ia should not try and bring up the issue of of regionalism in their plans. Me mere blo west too ia, bata try no spoilem west by your representation cos' samfala leadership style blo youfala hem red maka finis. Me likem west kamap too, but when in this context i prefer someone else. Tausinga, yes but he can be timid most times. We need someone aggressive and who shows an assertiveness in his leadership style. But remember, assertiveness comes with integrity and so the cycle goes on. Please leaders, Stop this ideology poisoning your minds.

me shame long kaen iaa

Tru pela Malita. Those advocation regionism ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Regionism is a sign of weakness and power hunger persons. Taem youme regionalizem, then youme strong but this does not hold for current politics in Solo. It breeds hatred and God fobids if rumours about regionism is true or just another politic point scoring.

Ke naf votim kaen lidas olsem if true. Our leaders should lead us and move the country from one of the LDC to a developing country and no reverse gear long motto blong country.

Syder Rini is not the least of Solomon Islands troubles, Lusibaea who lead the Malaita Eagle Force, Leader of a force that looted, raped and killed fellow Solomon Islanders, the one who should be put on trial and god willing will be put on trial for all he deserves to be held for. How can one Militant Leader be held in jail for life and the other one be raised to a whole new level on the opposite side of the spectrum, this is a classic case of uneducated votes being cast, this shows us that lusibaea's constituency has a lot of uneducated people in its overall population, as we all know that a politician is only a representative of his people, everyone and his great grandparent knows that lusibaea is poorly educated, he has risen into power through guns and illegal activities throughout the ethnic tension, do a survey and you will find that the majority of Solomon Islanders are now disgusted by him, as they are by Harold keke, and all who ruined the Solomon Islands through their stupidity in fueling the ethnic tensions, playing out their childhood action heroes..RAMBO, and ruining our peace stability and economy in the process.
Lusibaea's election is a sign that we are moving into the wrong direction, our political system needs to be fixed, you merely just need to be a celebrity, achieve notoriety, make a name for yourself and you will have a chance at being the next political head of your constituency, this is why we can seriously take into consideration that maybe in the near future we could even have Nat'e as a political leader, since uneducated voters treat this election as a popularity contest, like the idol or icon votes instead of understanding the future implications.
I would like to see a system of control be made as for future candidates, a basic education and criminal activities should be taken into consideration, so we don't end up with criminals (lusibaea) or maybe even jokers (Nat'e) as leaders in the future.

p.s. dont show how you lack education by trying to cover up lusibaea's ugly history in a reply, i as an educated malaitan have had enough of our such stupid people ruin the credibility of my home Malaita.
..and he did not fight for me, he did not fight for you, he had his own agenda during the ethnic conflict.

Tough choices

Sad but true!. We sympathise with you but let it be. The north malaita constituency has spoken, be they idiots or not. Blame the system, if the democratic system of voting does not change then sore nao, next four years by yumi worse go moa! Please dont blame Lusibaea, he has been foiled and conned into the hierachy by many of his admirers. Of course, there'll be mentors there for him to help him out whilst in parliament but i dont see this as his nor the people's fault. It is the damned democratic system that hasnt provided for a systematic checking, let alone the provision/loopholes that had every men and his dog to compete come election day. Hence, back to the topic of regionalism, just hope Lusibaea contributes in a positive way by helping to choose a quality leader for prime ministership!. Good prime minister na yumi likem ba!.

Everywhere I turn is a bad

Everywhere I turn is a bad apple! We might just settle for the worst one. On regionalism: I find it hard to accept the idea of regionalism simply because we don't have the luxury of understanding for sure how and where foreign countries involving in our election. Unless such information are disclosed to the public, I would not accept that mantra. This is high time and desperate time calls for desperate measures and this is one that sounds appealing to angry Solomon islanders. This conspiracy will build the foundation for an uprising after the Pm's election if our people keep fanning the flames.

What we should be careful about is the internal lobbying and the cronyism that take root in our system. These are the people that are more likely to destroy Solomon Islands, not foreign nations. Needless to say that the camping out in expensive hotels throughout Honiara at a time when the economy of Solomon Islands is not showing any improvement, is indeed stupid! It is shameful and there should be legislation regulating how parties are formed!

In the past, parties camped out in their own backyards. Today, our leaders are so polarized and corrupt that our view of leadership is who can afford the most expensive hotels in Solomon Islands, not only for a day or two but weeks!

Why aren't we focus on the danger lurking within our own people instead of cooking up conspiracy theories hoping that people would be pissed after the final vote is casted for the PM? It is not good I tell you!

i find @constituencyOfIdiots

i find @constituencyOfIdiots views rather tough to swallow simply because there are some broad generalizations.  I think someone spoke on this issue by touching on the cultural make up of people from Malaita, that traditionally those who fight and defend something are often held in high regard.  An "idiotic" act maybe but whether the new MP for North Malaita fought for himself or vested interests, the point is the people voted him because he stood up for something. as for being disgusted by him, maybe I am in the minority - let him be, he is an elected leader.  Many people in the world capitalize on different circumstances to be leaders.  The fact that it happened in the Solomon Islands does not make us an anomaly!  Finally, Rasta's sins are greater than those of certain MP's who grew rich and fat on public funds? Or that those who elected an ex militant are idiots while those who replaced Billy Hilly with an MP who cannot put together a meaningful 10 word sentence are not?
