SIG's pre-service intake for FSM finally arrive

The Solomon Islands Medical Students Association in Fiji was numerically richer over the recent days after the arrival of its new recruits.

Earlier expectations of a number in the 20s fell short when the last group flew in on Tuesday taking the total number of SIG's pre-service intake to only 15.

Only one student came in on Friday as expected but the rest were flown in on Sunday and Tuesday respectively because of flight matters according to one Lifhaus source.

Classes have already started for most programs but Lifhaus understands that some are yet to head to the class rooms because of some pre-classroom engagements which are yet to be settled.

Currently they are running around with the help of a few old ones fixing bank accounts, student IDs, and other matters relating to their study permits-an important thing which must be settled in time to avoid being confronted by Fiji's recent strict immigration laws.

The other matter is accommodation.  "The rooms are said to be all booked," said one first year students who is yet to get a room on top of other school requirements like getting a student ID done.

Currently the new students are bunking in with fellow wantoks in their rooms while waiting for further details from the students services  about any possibility of acquiring rooms.

Meanwhile, everyone looked set and ready to give 2010 a go.
