I assume that there is little to write about. That prompted SOLSTAR to turn to the courts for news. Court cases have always been around it is just that we dont use to read about them. Start writing about people who seek medical attention at the hospital and we will realize how much diseases are rampant in Honiara.
On the other hand they are doing a good job. Making us aware of whats going on.
The court news make the news because of the many press releases by relevant court and police media - the media then does a great 'cut and paste' job ---- and yay! we have 2 out of 4 pages of news covering the courts and police ... basically it shows the police media unit has been doing their job at putting out the news on police incidents and cases etc ....
And guess what .... if you spend $15 to buy sol star, express and island sun --- you'll be bored and wasting your money because all of them cover the same basic stories - sometimes word for word ....(again a cut and paste job synonymous of our print media)... the only difference is the headlines with island sun having the most outrageous headlines e.g. on the charity issue - which only fuels the stupidity and craze on the sham and the con of the charity issue. These days I only buy 1. SIBC is a little better because it has some variety of news. ...... So much for the competition in the print media industry and so much for the quality of our media.
I am always emphasizing that content on Lifhaus is driven by user contributions. So far, there are two full time writers who volunteer their time and I hope our readers, like me, really appreciate their hardwork. I hope others get on board too - it does not matter where you are and what you report, if it is newsworthy it should be on Lifhaus. So our two writers have done an excellent job of keeping news on Lifhaus fresh and different. As for the news from Lifhaus, we have a team of roving reporters, provincial and overseas based correspondents who suggest and provide stories. A team of writers put these articles out onto Lifhaus under the supervision of the Senior Lifhaus Administrator. So if you are unable to write, just send us a news item and we will report it on Lifhaus. It is as simple as that. Better still if you have a picture, send it to us or register and post it yourself on the Public Gallery....at the end of the day, Lifhaus tries to be different by reporting on issues you will not find in main stream media...it will be more successful if more people participated. If you feel you can write for Lifhaus, register and then apply for a Reporter or Publisher role which can allow you to write for Lifhaus and contribute to keeping content on this website new, fresh and different.
How true is that.. There is no value in buying all three papers because they all cover the same story, a lot of the time word for word, simply cut and pasted from press releases..
thank you administrator! what you shared is very true .... indeed the lifhaus contributions on the frontpage and pictures etc etc are indeed a breath of fresh air ...akin to a "coming in the cloud" moment in the otherwise dreary news headlines in the 3 newspapers. seriously, sometimes i check the lifhaus frontpage for more intersting articles or commentaries than whatever that has been produced by the local newspapers.
Hey sometimes, the breaking news and the intersting ones are broken by Radio NZ and their website etc e.g. on the suddent about face by our very own "coming in the cloud" minister leni.
oh and yes i wanna add .... thanks lifhaus and the associated contributors for the superb articles so far. you have done a great job! ... looking for more interesting articles ... much appreciated
** note a "coming in the cloud" moment (described previously) is akin to the "shock-n-awe" "awesomeness" of the event/person (as associated to Rumsfeld et al) .... "coming in the cloud" in the Solo context pays homage to the "awesomeness" and the "glorous" war of words, and the diatribes in the sharp-shooting-goal-attacking roberta-talasasa v. sharki-sasako 'netball' showdown that we witnessed recently in the media ha ha ha!**
** disclaimer: pun aside this does not make fun of the issue at hand but is intended as a pun on the various 'ammunition and incendiary’ type of words pumped out by our two ego-centric-antiheroes. the colorful exchanges have certainly contribted to popular street talk 'literature'in the country.
the most recent "coming in the cloud" moment was when Minister Leni reversed his position on the fishing vessels arrested after the 'fish, bait and hook' clash with the police. see RNZI ....and yes ... Solstar will reprint the story tomorrow.
