I am surprised to hear that SIFF will select a team soon. But to answer the question, i think we shud focus on who should coach the team? Who is selected depends on the coach's game plan and tactic. Selecting the best players does not necessarily win games. Soccer is a team sport so evryone important from striker to team manager!! Me ting S Faisi and Wagapu should never be considered!
I like ur idea Kicker. Absolutely...naf lo Wagapu ya na...If SIFF is serious about getting Solomon Islands thru to the world cup play offs, it shud be serious about getting a qualified coach. A coach that will pick out the best players and nurture them to do something...but if I could choose one player, certainly KB bae no miss ya...hahah
Me supportim line up blo Kicker. but me support Robo dat Takayama should be in da first 11 instead of marlon. one fala something umi mas save too is dat experience important so shud mix lelebet. if hem 4 years earlier batram suri is a must. lo side lo coach me ting no eni one hem available locally. lo team management, how sapos umi triem sam fala new man moa? aiya Robo u try talem come who nao some fala wea lelebet stand out lo S-League ba? Sapos u luk lo line up blo Kicker hem garem people from Koloale and Warriors staka inside..oketa national team oversea save kaf side too lo players from the top teams. eg Spain. why Brazil no save win dis time is not lack of talent, hem lack of team work so sapos oketa developim team over long period of time by u lukim oketa win back moa. so solomon mas ting ting gud. eh hem late, me go sleep na!!!
There is not enough evidence to dispel the thought of former players will be successful. However, M Vave has not had much success. Let me throw in another name many younger folks may not really know. Samson Gamasi. Why? SG has had a very successful track record even against M Vave. DMP played in U20 in the 90's under SG and they were very successful. Then DMP moved onto div 2 and won promotion to the Super League. SG defected from Rangers to join the newly promoted club as player/coach. That marked the most successful spell in DMP history. They beat Rangers, Laugu, Sunbeam among many other big name teams. DMP also saw many of its best players break into the SI national team. Damari, Peter Moutoa, Sylvester Rogi made it into the national team with Damari and Peter enjoying most success! Akwasia, George Gamasi made it to the Honiara squad in the Solomon Cup along with lanky striker Mckenzie (Dropped out from the final teams but appeared in many training squads...think P Crouch for comparison). I guess what i am trying to say is SG has proven he is a winner by taking these players to enjoy very huge success! SG is a winner and he has played in some of the best SI squad most memorably the Luito'o Fa'arodo SPG silver medallists in 1991! Note SIFF attributes this to N Wagapu which is wrong! SG was initially dropped then recalled and he delivered in style. He is still regarded one of the best right defender and free kick specialist well before Judd Molea was even concieved! Ok if SIFF does not want to let one of this former players lead the team then at least establish a think tank with these players playing a role. I agree with the poster who disagreed with the likes of Samson Faisi who I still cannot understand why he seems to be everywhere now with SIFF! Honesty I believe SIFF owes this to these former starlwarts!!!

Guys Jack Wetney but too good too ya......as well as joe Lui (TVL Top scorer 2011). Not forgeting to mention George Lui with his success with Rewa along side James Naka here in Fiji..... One of the potential and lethal strikers would be Micah Lea'alafa. He has proven that he is also good outside too. I would like too see some young guns in the National squad for the Pacific Games, treating it as an experience and international exposure for them in preparations for the upcoming 2014 WC Qualifiers as changed by OFC. Players like Ian Paia, Dennis Ifunaoa, Stanton Hila, Coleman Makau, Ragomo, Jeffery Bule, Lenson Bisili etc.. must be given a chance to be in the National Squad for Pacific Games. If they perform well in the Pacific Games then they deserve their position in the National Squad for the WC Qualifiers come June 2012. We still have a year to find a winning squad. Also SIFF should use the upcoming friendlies with Vanuatu and Fiji to decide on who to be in the squad. I say this because some players in the other NSL teams like Real Kakamora, Hana, Marist may not perform better with their current team but if they are with the teams like Kossa, Warriors, koloale then their potential will be seen. The point I would like to stress here is 'SIFF should find a winning combination among players of all NSL teams not just focusing on the same old players. It takes a team to win championships.
It is also important that SIFF appoint a good coach. A coach with good records. If not found locally, then look abroad. The players in the field will be just as good as the coach outside the field. So SIFF appoint a winning coach just like the one you appointed in 2004 (Allan G).
Hem nmoa from me......ufala moa sharim come tingting blo ufala...
Looking at our under 20 players, I personally beleive they're a good team. Their weakeness was to me the coach...see we can have perfect combination but if the BIG fish who is directing the dive is not diving in the right direction, everyone will surely find trouble along the way. My point is get the right coach who has the technical know guiding the boys to victory...we have talent but our wickness to me is in the area of coaching....someone who studies each game and chances the pattern where necessary or something like that should be chosen as a coach...lol
Hem nao olgeta. we need a tournament coach like Allan Gilert. Many of our coaches in SOlo all development coach nomoa for oketa U10 U20 osem . I prefer to take on board Jeffrey Allen the technical coach blo Koloale ya. He has been here nad understand the style of footbal in Solo. He once said Solo players were very talented but they dont really understand their role in plying asd a team. So when he came in and help Eke they reap the result and win all their reaming O-league games then wining S-league as well qualified for O-league. Dont ever rule Koloale out this time round. so tintin aboutem Jeff Allen From USA.
Then how sapos umi outem every biggy bele lo SIFF for all no fat tumas lo $$$$.
After the Vanuatu results, it is becoming clearer that SI soccer aren't going anywhere. My interim suggestion is to sack the national coach, and half of the players that went to Vanuatu.
I would like to see players like Naka, Molea, Paia, Mamae and Jack to be included.
Every soccer fanatic. hey so who na ufala tigim sud out & in after 2-0 loss lo Vanuatu ba? Mi bara so sae tintin gud na oketa nogud umi go lose moa lo NC. Player blo NC staka play lo France & Italy ya ma Solo ba how nomoa kwe mi soli soli finis na.
Mi tin Joe Lui, Tome Faisi sud out nomoa & even Joses Navo includim Himson Taleda man scorem staka unexpected goals lo U-20 tournament.Strong defence is needed, eve George Suri barava heavy 2mas na, no sae run nomoa.Naka, fa,arodo, Takayama, totori sud be included.
hey bara true wan na u talem ya man, disfala baka name blong hem jeff Allen na ota should considerem as a part of the management blo national side blong umi ya.......man!! umi needim someone better than Jacob Moli man ae

yap, throw in SG. I think Tommy Mana (TM) and Jerry ? are others worth mentioning.

agree re: coach. need someone who will be able to mould the many gifted SI players into a successful combination.
suggestion, after SIFF selects the team, i think the public should select their own line up & let them play off for the final team.
Fiji recently suspended one of its director due to recent poor performance. We should follow suit and suspend those tasked to look after the team.
