It is Solomon Telekom Company Limited intention to extend the range of our Mobile numbers from 5 to 7 digits, with effect from August 2009. That is the plan.
The change will be effected by the addition of the prefix ‘74’ in front of all existing mobile numbers.
Your existing mobile number will remain the same, but you must dial the pre-fix ‘74’ and then mobile number to be able to make a mobile call.
Example: if you wish to contact mobile 88888 dial 74 88888
For the convenience of our Breeze Customers, OurTelekom will offer dual 5 and 7 digits dialing for a period of 3 months. This means customers can dial existing 5 digit mobile numbers until 31st October 2009 and a mobile call can still be made.
Example: If you wish to contact mobile 88888, you can still dial this number until 31st October but by 1st November 2009, you will have to dial the prefix ‘74’ before 88888.
The plan is, for any New Breeze Customers as of early August 2009, you will be provided a 7-digit number which also has the prefix dialing of ‘74’. For instance, 740xxxx or 741xxxx.
The 7-digit numbering change is only for Breeze mobile services. This does not apply to the fixed line services, which will still use the 5-digit numbering.
