Let me see how many people will support these thoughts because it did not come from Sogavare!....At least in a nutshell, there are some truth in this piece although I think the author is stretching the truth by claiming that in the Solomon Islands,  "Women give birth in the bush".....but talk about it, its worth our time unless you are more keen on talking about the mobile phone!

ready for partial scholarships?

Posted on February 17th, 2010 by grafixFarm and tagged .

Is the Solomon Islands ready for partial scholarships for tertiary studies?  Does anyone have inside information on how this will work?  In neighbouring PNG, the partial scholarship scheme has been very successful and works too.  In other countries, there are student loans that enable people to go on tertiary studies.  What system will work best for the Solomon Islands?  I am of the opinion that the most deserving students should be given full scholarships.  Everyone else can make do with partial scholarships or student loans.  IF well managed, it will wor

When Solomon Star refaced its old news website with what they believed is a more user friendly one, it did spark some interesting discussions which somehow dragged with it some thoughtful followings on www.lifhaus.com.sb

The pioneer of the well followed discussion actually claimed that with the improved website, Solomon Star is rising. But other critics that followed stormed in with comments that actually opened the discussion to a wider perspective.

The Digicel roar became a soundless whimper

Ok...so read the lead story on Lifhaus....Our Telekom moving ahead with its upgrade.  Good thing for the customer and so with such big investment, are they just protecting their investment.  Conspiracy theories have it that to protect its risky investment bringing a competitor that does not have the potential to pose serious threats immediately should help Our Telekom get back on its feet....and why would the government not agree?....in the name of protecting SINPF interests?.....then look at the people involved - aha...the Gizo boys, Mike Hemmer, John Beverley...and should we tos
